Pakistan Pledges Continued Facilitation in US-Iran Peace Efforts

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to fostering regional peace by maintaining open communication channels between Tehran and Washington, the Foreign Office announced. During a weekly briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi underscored Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to promote peace, prosperity, and stability throughout the region.

According to Radio Pakistan, Andrabi highlighted Pakistan’s recognition for its constructive diplomatic engagement in supporting de-escalation and ceasefire efforts between the United States and Iran. He emphasized the country’s dedication to comprehensive peace applicable to all regional parties.

Addressing a question, Andrabi firmly rejected India’s delimitation process in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as illegal and devoid of legal value. He argued that such actions aim to alter the region’s demographic and political structure, disenfranchising the Kashmiri people. Andrabi asserted that India lacks the legal authority to redefine any part of the disputed territory, which should be resolved per United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The spokesperson reiterated Pakistan’s support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and called for international scrutiny of India’s attempts to contravene international law. Additionally, Andrabi demanded a thorough judicial process to hold accountable those responsible for the Samjhauta Express terrorist attack. He expressed concerns over the promotion of Colonel Purohit, involved in the attack, to Brigadier, raising questions about India’s stance on terrorism and its judicial framework.
