Pakistan Outlines Clear Counterterrorism Strategy, Says Military Spokesperson

Islamabad: Pakistan’s military has articulated a clear strategy to combat terrorism, emphasizing the importance of dismantling internal enablers. According to Radio Pakistan, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), highlighted this approach in an interview with Reuters, noting the significance of addressing enabling factors within the country.

In his remarks, Lieutenant General Chaudhry identified a previously ineffective government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as one such enabler, which hampered counterterrorism efforts. He stated that Pakistan conducts approximately two hundred intelligence-based operations daily to target terrorist activities, asserting the nation’s commitment to maintaining this approach.

Addressing the impact of terrorism on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chaudhry noted the significant suffering endured by the region’s residents. He described them as integral to Pakistani society, with a deep interest in security and stability. He emphasized that the province’s population supports counterterrorism measures and has welcomed changes that bolster these efforts.
