Punjab Designates District Focal Persons to Enhance Business Environment

LAHORE: In a significant move to enhance economic growth and industrialization, the Punjab government has appointed additional deputy commissioners (Headquarters) as official focal persons for the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ initiative across all districts of the province. This decision seeks to simplify administrative procedures and address challenges faced by the business community to create a more favorable investment climate.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, a two-day training workshop aimed at equipping these focal persons with necessary strategies and digital tools began at the Civil Secretariat on Monday. Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman, who presided over the opening session, announced the launch of Punjab’s Innovation for Value, Opportunity, and Transformation (PIVOT) program to stimulate commercial activity. A dedicated PIVOT Secretariat has been established at the Planning and Development Board to oversee business facilitation efforts and track investment outcomes.

Under the new regulatory framework, an integrated inspection mechanism for commercial and industrial establishments will operate under the supervision of the Additional Chief Secretary. To promote transparency and reduce arbitrary checks, all inspection data will be available on a real-time online dashboard. These digital platforms are being integrated into the unified e-Biz portal.

During the workshop, Chief Secretary Zaman urged administrative officers to remove unnecessary procedural obstacles and foster a trust-based partnership with the private sector. Experts from federal and provincial agencies provided insights on digital public service delivery, commercial opportunities, and administrative reforms. The Punjab Small Industries Corporation also organized an exhibition showcasing district crafts and artisanal products to highlight regional economic potential.
