Pakistan Navy War College Launches 6th Maritime Security Workshop in Lahore

Lahore, The Pakistan Navy War College has inaugurated the sixth edition of the Maritime Security Workshop (MARSEW-6) in Lahore, marking a significant step in enhancing maritime security understanding and tapping into the nation’s maritime potential.

According to Radio Pakistan, Rear Admiral Javed Iqbal, Commandant of the Pakistan Navy War College, opened the workshop. Organized by the Pakistan Navy, this national-level forum centers on the theme ‘Secure Seas, Prosperous Pakistan.’ The objective of MARSEW-6 is to deepen understanding of maritime security dynamics, promote the blue economy concept, and explore Pakistan’s untapped maritime potential.

The workshop focuses on identifying challenges and opportunities in Pakistan’s maritime sector and its potential contributions to the national economy. It brings together a diverse group of participants, including Senators, Parliamentarians, senior bureaucrats, professionals from the maritime sector, business community, academia, think tanks, and media from both public and private sectors.

In his welcome address, Rear Admiral Javed Iqbal elaborated on the activities planned for the workshop. These activities aim to familiarize participants with Pakistan’s maritime potential in the context of policy formulation. He emphasized the need for a strategic reorientation towards maritime issues, understanding the evolving dynamics in the broader Indian Ocean region, and their impact on Pakistan’s national security. The Commandant also shed light on the extensive challenges faced and highlighted the crucial role of the Pakistan Navy in protecting the country’s maritime interests.
