Islamabad: The National Commission on the Rights of Child, in collaboration with UNICEF Pakistan, organized the launch of the State of Children in Pakistan Report 2025 and key child rights initiatives in Islamabad. Federal Minister for Law and Justice and Human Rights, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, attended the event as Chief Guest, emphasizing the government’s commitment to child rights.
According to Press Information Department, the Federal Minister praised the National Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC) for producing the annual flagship report, which serves as a critical tool for accountability and policy response on child rights. The report reflects a national shift toward improved child protection and rights monitoring systems.
Senator Tarar highlighted legislative advancements, including child marriage restraint laws in various regions, setting eighteen years as the minimum marriage age. He also noted the notification of the National Mechanism for Reporting and Follow-up as a step toward better coordination in fulfilling international human rights commitments.
The Minister reiterated the government’s dedication to collaborating with stakeholders, including parliamentarians, development partners, civil society, and children, to advance a rights-based future for children in Pakistan.
