SIngapore: The High Commission of Pakistan organized a special screening of the celebrated Pakistani film, “The Legend of Maula Jatt,” for an audience that included diplomats, government officials, business community members, media representatives, and the Pakistani diaspora. This event was part of the activities celebrating 60 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Singapore.

According to Press Information Department, the film, directed by Bilal Lashari and featuring prominent Pakistani actors such as Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, and Hamza Ali, is a significant production in contemporary Pakistani cinema that has gained international recognition. The film, set in Punjab, explores themes of honor, courage, loyalty, justice, and rivalry, and highlights Pakistan’s cultural heritage, storytelling traditions, and cinematic talent.

High Commissioner Rabia Shafiq, in her welcoming remarks, emphasized cinema’s role as a tool of cultural diplomacy and mutual understanding among people. Shafiq noted that films offer an engaging medium for countries to share their heritage and contemporary identity with global audiences. She mentioned that “The Legend of Maula Jatt” conveys a uniquely Pakistani narrative through a modern cinematic lens and has resonated with audiences beyond Pakistan. The High Commission previously screened the Pakistani film “Nayab” in Singapore as part of its efforts to introduce Singaporeans to Pakistan’s culture and society through cinema.

The attendees expressed their admiration for the film, praising its performances, visual elements, and music. They appreciated the chance to engage with a significant work of Pakistani cinema and commended the film’s production quality and engaging narrative.
