NDMA Hosts Inaugural National Industrial Disaster Preparedness Exercise in Islamabad

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has successfully hosted its first-ever National Industrial Disaster Preparedness and Response Exercise at its headquarters, marking a significant advancement in industrial safety protocols. The two-day event, inaugurated by NDMA Chairman Lt General Inam Haider Malik, aimed to enhance the management and coordination of industrial disaster response across Pakistan.

According to National Disaster Management Authority, the exercise was designed to emphasize the critical importance of proactive decision-making and the implementation of timely measures to mitigate the effects of industrial incidents. It brought together representatives from Provincial Disaster Management Authorities, rescue agencies, and major stakeholders in the chemical, petroleum, oil, and gas industries, including prominent companies like Lucky Core Industries Limited and Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited.

The event also saw participation from senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industries and Production, and Ministry of Defence Production, underscoring the national importance of improving disaster response capabilities. Participants praised NDMA’s efforts in organizing the exercise, recognizing it as a crucial step toward establishing a resilient framework for managing industrial disasters in Pakistan.

This initiative is expected to foster enhanced collaboration between government entities and industrial partners, ensuring that all involved are better prepared to address potential emergencies effectively.
