ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has condemned an attempted drone attack targeting the sacred site of Makkah, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia in protecting its sovereignty. The Prime Minister emphasized the deep sorrow and concern felt by Pakistanis in response to the incident, highlighting the importance of restraint and dialogue in the region.
According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif expressed his appreciation for the Royal Saudi Armed Forces, recognizing their vigilant and swift response to the threat. In a message shared on X, he conveyed the shared anguish of Pakistanis over the “outrageous act” and stressed the need for diplomatic efforts to ensure peace and stability.
Prime Minister Sharif urged all involved parties to avoid further escalation, noting the region’s extensive history of conflict and the necessity of peaceful resolution paths. He reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the shared responsibility of safeguarding the Haramain Sharifain, a duty held in high regard by Pakistanis.
