Islamabad: Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, met with Kuwait’s Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Nassar Abdulrahman J Almutairi, highlighting the importance of the bilateral relationship between the two countries. The meeting, held at the Ministry of Petroleum in Islamabad, focused on strengthening economic and energy ties.
Minister Malik expressed gratitude to Kuwait for its decision to extend an oil credit facility to Pakistan for an additional two years. This extension is seen as crucial for the structural reforms implemented by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Kuwaiti Ambassador praised Pakistan’s economic progress under Sharif’s leadership, particularly noting improvements in economic stabilization and the investment climate.
Discussions also covered potential investment avenues in Pakistan’s petroleum sector, with an emphasis on enhancing bilateral energy cooperation. The collaboration between Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and Kuwait Petroleum was highlighted as a positive aspect of the relationship. The involvement of KUFPEC in offshore exploration was also welcomed by Pakistan.
Minister Malik reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to fostering strong ties with Gulf nations, especially in the sectors of energy and trade. He conveyed Prime Minister Sharif’s appreciation for the Kuwaiti leadership and expressed a desire to build upon the existing relationship.
The meeting concluded with both nations agreeing to continue strengthening their partnership, signifying an unwavering commitment to mutual growth and cooperation.
