Pakistan Customs’ IPR Enforcement Achieves 24% Increase in Seizure Cases During FY 2025-26


Islamabad: Pakistan Customs’ Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement (IPRE) has marked a notable achievement in enhancing the protection of intellectual property rights and fortifying border enforcement throughout the Financial Year 2025-26. The agency’s efforts have underscored its commitment to curbing the trade of counterfeit and pirated goods within the country.



According to Press Information Department, the Directorate General recorded a total of 201 Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) forfeiture and seizure cases during FY 2025-26. This figure represents a 24 percent rise in enforcement actions compared to the previous fiscal year’s 162 cases. The seized goods, valued at approximately Rs. 7.7 billion, included various counterfeit products such as luxury items, textiles, automobile parts, cosmetics, and consumer durables, underlining the agency’s effectiveness in protecting consumers and legitimate businesses.



In its efforts to raise awareness, the Directorate General IPRE organized 30 sessions, workshops, and seminars nationwide, involving customs officers, chambers of commerce, traders, and other stakeholders. These initiatives aimed at enhancing understanding of intellectual property rights and enforcement mechanisms.



Mr. Abdul Qadir Memon, Director General of Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement (Customs), reiterated Pakistan Customs’ dedication to advancing its enforcement capabilities through capacity building, modern risk management, technological innovation, and collaboration with stakeholders. The agency remains steadfast in its mission to prevent the movement of counterfeit goods, thus supporting legal trade and economic development in Pakistan.
