Islamabad: Pakistan has issued a strong condemnation of India’s actions against Hurriyat leader Yasin Malik, urging international intervention in response to his ongoing persecution.

According to Radio Pakistan, during a weekly briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan called on the United Nations and human rights organizations to address concerns regarding Malik’s health and the broader denial of fundamental rights in the Indian-administered region of Jammu and Kashmir. Khan criticized the Indian judicial system, describing it as a tool used by the Indian government to suppress the Kashmiri people and obstruct their access to justice, referencing an affidavit submitted by Malik related to charges from 1990.

Khan expressed concerns over Malik’s deteriorating health and emphasized the need for international bodies to prevent India’s alleged attempts to endanger his life for political gains. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to raising Malik’s case, along with the human rights situation in Kashmir, at global platforms, underscoring the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination as enshrined in UN resolutions.

In addition, Khan condemned the demolition of Islamic holy sites in India, urging global scrutiny of these actions. On other matters, he affirmed Pakistan’s support for Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and regional stability, discussing the Makkah Defence Alliance aimed at strengthening peace. Khan also clarified Pakistan’s stance on global geopolitical dynamics, highlighting its strategic relationships with the United States, China, and Russia, and its commitment to the Global Governance Initiative.
