ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has condemned a terrorist attack targeting civilians and police officials during Juma prayers in Kohat, emphasizing the need for decisive action against terrorist networks reportedly operating from Afghanistan. The Ministry underscored the ongoing threat posed to Pakistan’s security by these groups and called for the dismantling of their support infrastructure.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Ministry expressed its concerns via a social media post, attributing the attack to extremist factions with ties to Afghanistan. The statement criticized the Afghan Taliban for allegedly providing sanctuary to terrorist groups, urging them to fulfill their counter-terrorism commitments under the Doha Agreement. The Ministry emphasized that expressions of sympathy from the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs must be accompanied by tangible actions to prevent further attacks on Pakistani soil.

The statement highlighted the long-standing issues of terrorist sanctuaries and recruitment operations in Afghanistan as direct threats to Pakistan. It also condemned remarks by Afghan Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid, suggesting that his regime should focus on dismantling terrorist networks rather than issuing threats. The Ministry reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to dialogue but insisted it would not tolerate the endangerment of its citizens.

Pakistan called upon the international community to pressure the Afghan Taliban into taking verifiable measures against terrorism. The Ministry warned that inaction could lead to increased instability in the region, with potential global repercussions. The Ministry reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to protect its citizens and maintain sovereignty through all necessary measures.
