ISLAMABAD: The inaugural meeting of the Pakistan-China Boundary Joint Commission concluded in Islamabad, marking the official start of collaborative efforts to address border management issues between the two countries. The two-day session, which was the first of its kind, follows the framework set out in the 2013 China-Pakistan Agreement on Boundary Management System.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Pakistani delegation was led by Bilal Mahmood Chaudhary, Director General (China) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Chinese side was represented by Li Ya, Deputy Director General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Officials from both nations described the commission’s establishment as an important development in enhancing the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.

The meeting addressed a range of topics related to border management and cooperation. Key discussions included cross-border coordination, the movement of goods and people, joint border surveys, and fostering people-to-people connections. Both parties agreed to convene the next meeting of the commission in China, with dates to be determined by mutual agreement.
