Pakistan and Uzbekistan Seek Copper Mining Partnership


Tashkent: Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, has embarked on a significant visit to Uzbekistan, focusing on potential collaborations in the copper mining sector. This visit marks a step towards strengthening economic ties and exploring resource-sharing opportunities between the two nations.



According to a statement by Press Information Department, Minister Khan toured the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex near Tashkent, a key player in the region’s copper production. His visit included assessments of the mines, concentration facilities, and smelters, aiming to identify areas for mutual cooperation.



Uzbekistan’s Minister for Mining and Geology, Bobir Farhodovich Islamov, alongside the Chairman of the Almalyk complex, Abdulla Khursanov, hosted the Pakistani delegation. Accompanying Minister Khan were Federal Minister for Investment Abdul Aleem Khan and Secretary Petroleum and Mining Momin Agha. They were joined by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, and Minister Islamov.



The officials conveyed the strategic importance of enhancing bilateral relations in the mining sector, following directives from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This visit is part of a broader initiative led by the Prime Minister to foster economic and industrial cooperation between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
