Islamabad, In a significant meeting today, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkiye, H.E. Hakan Fidan, met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to discuss strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
According to Press Information Department, the Prime Minister highlighted the deep-rooted brotherhood and shared aspirations between Pakistan and Turkiye, emphasizing the need to expand cooperation across various sectors such as trade, investment, technology, and defense. He expressed dissatisfaction with the current level of bilateral trade and underscored the ambition to elevate it to $5 billion within the next three years, a goal agreed upon by both countries’ leaderships. Prime Minister Sharif also invited Turkish companies to increase their investments and consider relocating their industrial units to Pakistan.
The meeting also covered regional and global issues, including the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza. The Prime Minister lauded President Erdogan’s efforts towards advocating for a permanent ceasefire and a sustainable peace in the Middle East. He reiterated the importance of a two-state solution as the key to enduring peace in the region.
Additionally, Prime Minister Sharif extended a cordial invitation to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit Pakistan to co-chair the upcoming 7th meeting of the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council, further solidifying the mutual commitment to supporting each other on key national interests.
