Pakistan and St. Kitts and Nevis Establish Formal Diplomatic Relations

Islamabad, Pakistan and St. Kitts and Nevis, a nation in the Caribbean, have officially established diplomatic relations in a significant development aimed at fostering cooperation between the two countries.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the formalization of ties took place in New York, where Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, and his St. Kitts and Nevis counterpart, Dr. Mutryce Williams, signed a joint communiqué. The ceremony marks a new chapter in the relations between Pakistan and St. Kitts and Nevis, paving the way for increased collaboration across various sectors.

Ambassador Munir Akram, speaking at the event, highlighted the potential for cooperation in finance, trade, investment, and information technology following the establishment of diplomatic ties. He expressed optimism about the opportunities for both countries to engage in meaningful interactions and learn from each other’s experiences at different levels.

Akram also anticipated a strengthened partnership with the Permanent Mission of St. Kitts and Nevis, focusing on areas of common interest at both bilateral and multilateral forums.

Dr. Mutryce Williams, addressing the gathering, emphasized the mutual respect and goodwill that have existed between the two countries despite their geographical distance. She envisioned the formal diplomatic relations leading to increased cooperation, particularly in trade, tourism, and education.
