Brussels, Pakistan and Portugal have reached an agreement to strengthen bilateral ties across various sectors, following a meeting between Ambassador of Pakistan to Brussels, Amna Baloch, and Permanent Representative of Portugal to the European Union, Pedro Lourtie.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting in Brussels served as a platform for both representatives to discuss matters of mutual interest, including global and regional issues. The agreement signifies a mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

The discussions between Baloch and Lourtie mark an important step in fostering diplomatic relations and collaboration across different sectors between Pakistan and Portugal. This move is seen as a positive development in strengthening international ties and addressing common challenges.

Islamabad, In a significant move towards public health, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has vowed to safeguard every child in Pakistan from the polio virus. This commitment was voiced during his meeting with a delegation from Rotary International, led by its President Ms. Stephanie A Urchik, in Islamabad.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister lauded the efforts of Rotary International in the realms of polio eradication, education, and various other sectors. He acknowledged the pivotal role played by the international community and developmental organizations in eradicating polio from Pakistan and assured full governmental support to Rotary International. The Prime Minister expressed hope that the organization would expand the reach of its programs across Pakistan.

Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar also took the opportunity to congratulate Stephanie A Urchik on becoming the first female President of Rotary International. During the meeting, the Prime Minister received a briefing on the Rotary Pakistan Smart Village Programme, which aims to enhance the standard of living for people through innovation and technology.

It was revealed that Rotary International has made a significant contribution to education in Pakistan by donating 800,000 books, with 200,000 of these distributed in Balochistan alone. In a further gesture of support, the delegation presented the Prime Minister with an additional gift of 10,000 books for distribution in various parts of the country.

This meeting highlights the Pakistani government’s ongoing commitment to public health initiatives and its collaboration with international organizations like Rotary International to improve the lives of its citizens.
