Pakistan Advocates for Global Legal Framework in Cyberspace at UN

New York, At the United Nations, Pakistan has called for the establishment of an international legal framework to address cybersecurity threats and ensure a safe environment for information and communication technologies worldwide. The appeal was made by Ambassador Munir Akram, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, during the Global Roundtable on ICT Security Capacity Building.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ambassador Akram highlighted the increasing frequency of cyber-attacks on critical infrastructure and the pervasive issue of disinformation, which Pakistan has been a longstanding victim. He emphasized the crucial role of equitable international cooperation in combating these cyber threats effectively.

Ambassador Akram’s remarks underscored the urgency of developing comprehensive legal and cooperative measures to safeguard cyberspace and enhance security protocols on a global scale. The initiative aims to foster a collaborative international response to these emerging challenges, protecting nations against the growing risks associated with digital communications.
