Islamabad: In a concerted effort to curb drug trafficking, law enforcement agencies across the country have intensified their operations, leading to the registration of 25 cases and the arrest of 20 drug peddlers last week. These operations resulted in the seizure of substantial quantities of illicit substances, underscoring the commitment to tackling the drug menace.
The recent operations have led to the confiscation of 7.96 kilograms of heroin, 66.08 kilograms of hashish, 56.99 kilograms of methamphetamine, 2,633.17 kilograms of opium, and 62.26 kilograms of other drugs. These figures highlight the large scale of the drug trade that authorities are working to dismantle.
Since September 2023, security forces have registered a total of 3,125 cases, with 3,107 arrests of individuals involved in drug trafficking. The ongoing operations have resulted in the seizure of 10.77 metric tons of heroin, 85.8 metric tons of hashish, 6.95 metric tons of methamphetamine, 15.62 metric tons of opium, and 1,015.05 metric tons of other drugs.
These efforts reflect a robust stance against the proliferation of narcotics, with authorities determined to reduce the availability and distribution of illicit drugs. The operations are part of a broader strategy to enhance public safety and reduce the impact of drug-related activities in communities across the country.
The ongoing success of these anti-drug operations is attributed to the coordinated efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies, which continue to prioritize the dismantling of drug networks and the arrest of those involved in this illegal trade.
