National Conference Accuses Modi Government of Neglecting Jammu and Kashmir in Budget Allocations

Srinagar: The National Conference (NC) has voiced strong criticism against the Modi government, accusing it of overlooking the needs of Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir in the recent budget. The party is calling for a special budget package to address the region’s deficiencies in basic services and economic support.

According to Kashmir Media Service, during a public rally in Samba, NC leader Ajay Kumar Sadhotra expressed concern over the lack of essential services such as water and electricity in the territory. He criticized the central government’s apparent disregard for the pressing issues faced by the residents, including severe shortages in power and water supplies, insufficient medical facilities, and understaffing in government sectors.

Sadhotra also pointed to the poor state of local industries, accusing the government of failing to provide substantial economic initiatives or support, merely offering unrealistic promises. He called for substantial financial investment and policy reforms to revive the struggling industries of the region.

Echoing Sadhotra’s statements, Rattan Lal Gupta, the Jammu president of the National Conference, reiterated the sentiment that the Modi administration has failed to adequately consider Jammu and Kashmir in its fiscal planning, highlighting a pattern of neglect that has exacerbated the challenges in the region.
