NAB Achieves Major Asset Recovery Milestones in 2026

Islamabad: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has successfully recovered Rs. 9.2 trillion in the third quarter of 2026, culminating in a total recovery of Rs. 14.6 trillion for the year so far. This recovery effort includes valuable state lands and other assets, marking significant progress in the bureau’s ongoing campaign against corruption.

According to Press Information Department, NAB’s initiatives have been bolstered by the formation of six Joint Task Forces comprised of Pakistan Railways and NAB personnel at regional bureaus. This collaboration has led to the recovery of 235,622 Kanals (29,453 acres) of prime land parcels valued at Rs. 6.78 trillion for Pakistan Railways, alongside the recovery of 866,299 acres of land from various provincial departments worth Rs. 2.395 trillion.

The recovery efforts have seen a 169% increase compared to the first two quarters of 2026, with notable contributions from NAB offices in Sukkur, Balochistan, Multan, Lahore, KP, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi. These offices have collectively reclaimed significant land assets and financial resources, including a plea bargain in the Bahria Town and Kohistan scam cases.

In addition to asset recovery, NAB has focused on public welfare by disbursing Rs. 908.42 million to 4,280 affected individuals in the last quarter. The bureau has also taken steps to modernize its operations by adopting an AI-based investigation system, “NAB EYE,” and has entered into Memorandums of Understanding with other state and foreign institutions to bolster its anti-corruption regime.

NAB’s comprehensive approach continues to focus on enforcing accountability, promoting transparency, and safeguarding public resources, with the ultimate goal of establishing a corruption-free governance framework in Pakistan. Since March 2023, NAB’s efforts have resulted in the recovery of Rs. 26.1 trillion, demonstrating its steadfast commitment to combating corruption and protecting state assets.
