Islamabad: Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, paid tribute to the martyrs and veterans of the 1965 war, emphasizing the supreme sacrifices made by Pakistan’s Armed Forces in defense of the nation. According to the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sadiq praised the courage, professionalism, and determination of the Armed Forces, who stood firm against a larger adversary and thwarted its objectives during the conflict.

In his Defence Day message, Sadiq highlighted the unity shown by the Pakistani people during the war, describing it as a significant chapter in the country’s history when citizens stood alongside their Armed Forces. He noted that the bravery and professionalism displayed by the forces shattered the enemy’s arrogance and underscored the nation’s resolve to protect its sovereignty and interests.

Sadiq also acknowledged the leadership of Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, under whom the Armed Forces have continued to safeguard the nation’s defense and contribute to regional peace and stability. He mentioned the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement with Türkiye and Saudi Arabia as a testament to mutual defense cooperation and regional security.

Furthermore, Sadiq commended the Armed Forces for their role in counter-terrorism efforts, highlighting their sacrifices and commitment to eliminating terrorism and protecting the state’s sovereignty. He also recognized their contributions during national crises and natural disasters, where they have consistently risked their lives to serve and protect the people.

Sadiq concluded by praying for the martyrs’ ranks to be elevated and for continued peace, security, and prosperity in Pakistan.
