ISLAMABAD, National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf underscored the significance of a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute, positing that enduring peace in the region hinges on its resolution.
According to a new release by the Kashmir Media Service, Speaker Ashraf’s remarks came as he delivered a message on the eve of the 76th Foundation Day of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He described Kashmir as the “jugular vein of Pakistan” and reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to supporting the Kashmiri people in all spheres – morally, politically, and diplomatically – until the longstanding Kashmir issue sees a conclusion.
Paying homage to the martyrs and heroes of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Ashraf acknowledged their immense sacrifices. He highlighted the region’s history, noting its liberation from the Dogra rulers due to the valor of its inhabitants. Additionally, he referenced the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, emphasizing that India cannot alter the disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir.
