Minister Kayani Leads Review to Accelerate Pakistan’s Cashless Economy


Islamabad: Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani chaired a high-level review meeting at the Finance Division today to assess advancements toward the Prime Minister’s Cashless Initiative. The meeting convened senior officials from various government bodies and private sector stakeholders to discuss progress and set new performance targets for Pakistan’s digital financial transformation.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting focused on evaluating the growth of digital merchants, transaction volumes, and digital banking users over the past year. The participants assessed efforts to digitize government payments and discussed strategies for expanding merchant adoption. They proposed the creation of a centralized merchant database to improve transaction visibility and emphasized the need for seamless digital payment processes for citizens.



Minister Kayani reiterated the government’s dedication to developing a transparent and inclusive economy, aligning with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision. He stressed the importance of regular progress reviews to ensure effective implementation and convenience for the public.
