Islamabad: Minister for Economic Affairs and Establishment Senator Ahad Cheema has called for the implementation of a comprehensive mechanism to address the proliferation of unaccredited IT institutions. The announcement was made during a high-level meeting chaired by the Minister, where he stressed the importance of coordinated measures to prevent prospective students from enrolling in institutions lacking the necessary accreditation.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister directed relevant authorities to develop a system for identifying unaccredited institutions and providing students with reliable information about the accreditation status of universities, affiliated colleges, and individual programs. This initiative aims to ensure that students are well-informed before making decisions about their education.

The meeting also included a review of the IT Skills Assessment Test, which saw participation from over 33,000 students across 188 institutions. Senator Cheema called for alignment of the assessment framework with international standards and the evolving needs of the technology industry. He underscored the importance of ensuring the credibility of the assessment process through appropriate scrutiny, quality assurance, and institutional checks and balances.
