Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said that the work of Green Line Bus Rapid System from Numaish at M.A Jinnah Road to Municipal Park should be expedited

Karachi, July 05, 2023 (PPI-OT): Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said that the work of Green Line Bus Rapid System from Numaish at M.A Jinnah Road to Municipal Park should be expedited and efforts should be made to complete the work of Green Line on MA Jinnah Road before the monsoon rains. Choking points of rainwater drainage should be removed so that water does not collect here during rains. All encroachments hindering the construction of Manghopir Road will be removed, the cost estimate for the construction of the track at both ends of Manghopir Road be submitted now. He said this while presiding over a high-level meeting with officials of Sindh Infrastructure Development in his office on Wednesday. In the meeting, Deputy Commissioner South Manzoor Ahmad Kunrani, Focal Person for Local Government Minister Karamullah Waqasi and relevant officers of KMC also participated.

On this occasion, Mayor Karachi was given a detailed briefing on ongoing development projects in Karachi under Sindh Infrastructure Development and he was informed that Sindh Infrastructure Development has completed the construction of Nishtar Road and water line has been laid on Manghopir Road. Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that work is underway on various development projects to provide better facilities to the citizens and the aim is to improve the city’s basic infrastructure, including roads and highways and storm water drains. Work on the Green Line Bus Rapid Project is in progress.

This project is part of providing better transport facilities to the citizens and a substantial part of it has been completed while work on the remaining part from Numaish to Municipal Park is in progress, it is necessary to speed up the completion of the project. He said that before the monsoon rains, the choking points which have been identified on various important and major roads of the city must be removed immediately so that there will be no complaints of standing water in the rainy season, for this all-relevant organizations should work through mutual communication. He said that before the construction of Manghopir road, water line has been laid so that the underground infrastructure can be improved and the road can be constructed, the construction of this road will provide convenience to the citizens and the travel time will be reduced, Mayor Karachi said.

It has been directed to complete the ongoing development works of roads and storm drains in various areas as soon as possible. Keeping the convenience of the citizens in priority, these works are being prioritized, rain drain work is in progress on the three and a half kilometer long Allama Rashid Turabi Road, this road is from Ziauddin Hospital to Landi Kotal Chowrangi and from Landi Kotal to People’s Chowrangi. It will be fully carpeted from Ziauddin Hospital to People’s Chowrangi. After the construction of rain drain on Shara-e-Humayun is completed, the 20 km long road is being levelled and carpeted Apart from this, the road being constructed from Asghar Ali Shah Chowk to Qalandria Chowk on Shahrah Noor Jahan in Central District and in the remaining part of the road, rain drain work is being done, after which carpeting of other parts will be done.
