Malaysia, Pakistan Leaders Discuss Bilateral Security, Defense Cooperation


Islamabad: Malaysian Prime Minister H.E. Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, recently met to discuss strategic interests, regional security, and defense cooperation between the two nations.



According to Inter Services Public Relations, the meeting highlighted the importance of enhancing bilateral military relations and addressed the ongoing regional security issues. Prime Minister Anwar praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for their role in maintaining regional peace and stability and acknowledged their professionalism and efforts in combating terrorism. He also emphasized the need to strengthen military ties and extended an invitation to General Munir to visit Malaysia to further these discussions.



General Munir expressed gratitude for the invitation and noted the significance of his successful visit to Pakistan, which he believes will further bolster the historic and enduring ties between the two countries and their militaries. He also attended the Investiture Ceremony and State Banquet held in honor of the Prime Minister at the Presidency.
