ISTANBUL: The first meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee, formed under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, is set to take place in Istanbul, Türkiye, today. This gathering marks a significant step in regional cooperation efforts, with high-level representatives from Pakistan, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia in attendance.
According to Radio Pakistan, Pakistan will be represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The meeting will also see the participation of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Ministers of Defence, and Chiefs of General Staff from both the Republic of Türkiye and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Pakistan’s involvement in the meeting underscores its longstanding ties with Türkiye and Saudi Arabia and its commitment to fostering regional peace and stability. The gathering aims to strengthen political and defense collaboration among the participating nations.
