Majority of Pakistanis Have Never Visited Islamabad, Survey Finds

Islamabad: More than half of Pakistanis have never visited the capital city of Islamabad, a recent survey has revealed, shedding light on the limited exposure most citizens have to the nation’s administrative hub. The study, conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, found that 55% of respondents reported they have never been to Islamabad, while 44% affirmed that they have visited the city at least once.

According to Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, the survey sampled a nationally representative group of adult Pakistanis from across the country, excluding those based in Islamabad. The survey asked participants whether they have ever visited the capital. Results indicated that 44% of respondents answered “Yes,” while 55% responded “No,” with 1% falling into the Don’t Know or No Response categories. The findings highlight that visiting Islamabad remains outside the experience of a significant portion of the population.

The survey also revealed differences based on education levels, noting that higher educated respondents are more likely to have visited Islamabad, with 71% reporting they have been to the city compared to 39% of those with lower education levels. Conducted between January 15 and February 3, 2026, the survey involved 787 respondents from urban and rural areas across Pakistan’s four provinces. The research was carried out using telephonic surveys with an estimated error margin of ± 2-3 percent at the 95% confidence level.
