Major Drug Bust in Pakistan Leads to Multiple Arrests and Seizures

Islamabad: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Pakistan has conducted a series of successful operations leading to the seizure of substantial quantities of illicit drugs and the arrest of 67 individuals, including foreign nationals. The operations, spanning various regions across the country, resulted in the confiscation of over 1,288 kilograms of drugs valued at approximately $97.85 million, as well as the destruction of approximately 62 acres of poppy crops.

According to a statement by Anti Narcotics Force, the operations were carried out in multiple provinces, with significant recoveries made in Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Sindh, and the North region. In Balochistan alone, 855 kilograms of drugs were seized, with six arrests, including an Afghan national. The drugs confiscated included opium, heroin, hashish, methamphetamine, ecstasy tablets, and weed.

In Punjab, the ANF conducted 18 operations, resulting in the seizure of 247.47 kilograms of drugs and the arrest of 32 individuals, among them a Nigerian national. Meanwhile, the KPK operations led to the recovery of 48.4 kilograms of hashish and the arrest of five suspects.

Sindh operations resulted in the seizure of 81.6 kilograms of drugs, the destruction of 25 acres of poppy crops, and the arrest of four individuals. In the North region, 56.495 kilograms of drugs were seized, and 20 people, including two women, were apprehended.

The ANF also targeted drug suppliers in educational institutions, arresting eight individuals involved in distributing drugs to such establishments. All cases have been registered under relevant laws, and investigations are ongoing.

In addition to its enforcement actions, the ANF has engaged in drug demand reduction activities, conducting awareness sessions in educational institutions and public campaigns to educate the youth and general public about the dangers of drug abuse. These initiatives aim to inform communities and encourage proactive measures against drug use.
