Islamabad: Federal Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, emphasizing the government’s dedication to assisting overseas Pakistanis, has called for a revamp of the verification process for passports and essential documents to enhance speed and efficiency.

According to Press Information Department, Senator Tarar chaired a meeting of the Committee on Passport Rules, attended by officials from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Passport Department, among others. The minister underscored the importance of overseas Pakistanis to the nation and urged the need for improved procedures to support them.

He instructed the development of an integrated system aimed at expediting the verification of travel and essential documents, minimizing human interaction, and ensuring a streamlined process. Senator Tarar proposed an electronic mechanism at the Ministry of Interior to facilitate prompt processing of queries and actions, alongside a one-window verification portal.

Additionally, he called for the preparation of proposals for necessary amendments in rules and regulations to further support overseas Pakistanis, with a clear course of action to be presented at the committee’s next meeting.
