Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Chief Minister Inaugurates Bannu Economic Zone

Peshawar, Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Justice Retired Syed Arshad Hussain Shah, has officially inaugurated the Bannu Economic Zone. This initiative marks a significant effort to boost economic development and create employment opportunities in the province.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the inauguration ceremony was held at the Chief Minister House in Peshawar, with the Chief Minister as the chief guest. The event was also attended by caretaker provincial minister for industries Dr. Aamir Abdullah, Secretary Industries Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, board members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company, CEO KP Azmak Javed Khattak, and other dignitaries. During the ceremony, the Chief Minister distributed allotment letters to investors for setting up industrial units in the Bannu Economic Zone.

In a briefing to the Chief Minister, it was disclosed that the Bannu Economic Zone, spanning an area of 415 hectares, is expected to house 265 small and large industries, with an anticipated investment of about 10 billion rupees. The economic zone is projected to create 16,000 direct and 48,000 indirect job opportunities.

The Chief Minister was also briefed on the overall performance of the company, the existing economic zones in the province, and the newly established ones. Currently, there are 14 economic zones in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, attracting investments of 346 billion rupees, and four more are under development.

Chief Minister Arshad Hussain Shah lauded the efforts of the Economic Zones Development and Management Company for the commercial launch of the Bannu Economic Zone. He highlighted the zone’s strategic importance, noting its potential to become a hub of economic activity not only for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also for other provinces and Central Asian states. Emphasizing the zone’s role in the development of the southern districts and adjacent areas, the Chief Minister stressed the urgency of addressing the underdevelopment in these regions.

The Chief Minister further stated that facilitating investment and providing employment opportunities in these districts are key priorities for the caretaker government, which is committed to offering all possible facilities to investors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
