Islamabad, July 06, 2023 (PPI-OT): The rise of Khalistan movement across the world has unnerved not only the Modi-led Indian government but all those Indians who espouse Hindutva policies, and one among them has gone to the extent of uploading a poster on Twitter announcing to pay money to any person whose information leads to the arrest of the prominent leader of Khalistan Movement, Gurpatwant Singh Panun. Identifying himself as Major (Retd) Gaurau Arya, he has uploaded a poster on Twitter which says, “I promise to pay USD 10,000 to any person who gives information to law enforcement agencies leading to the arrest and conviction of Khalistani [militant] Gurpatwant Singh Panun”.

Pertinently, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is an activist known for advocating creation of an independent state of Khalistan for Sikhs by separating Punjab from India. He is the founder of US-based Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), which is spearheading the campaign for Khalistan. Notably, Indian media is abuzz with reports that Gurpatwant Singh has probably died in a road accident in the US. However, the independent media and various Sikh organizations have refuted the reports of SFJ chief’s death.

Besides uploading poster declaring to pay bounty for information leading to Gurpatwat Singh Panun’s arrest, Major Gaurau Arya wrote on the Twitter, “If Pannun is alive, this offer stands. If not, I will change the poster and put the name and face of another so-called Khalistani. This offer still stands”. He further said, “I appeal to all NRIs [non-resident Indians] to collect money and create a fund. Contact the Indian High Commission/Embassy or Consulate in the country of your residence. Ask if they can help you with identifying Khalistanis involved in attacking our diplomatic missions, especially in Europe, US, Canada and Australia. Also, request them for CCTV footage of Khalistanis attacking our missions…. Once they are identified, you can use the services of private investigators to track them”.

The retired Major added, “Contact the best lawyers and file cases against them and ensure that these Khalistanis spend the rest of their natural lives in prison…. Do this as national service.” By expressing such hatred against the leaders of Khalistan Movement and stooping so low to upload such a poster on social media, by Major (retd) Gaurau Arya is because with every passing day, the Khalistan Movement is gaining momentum across the world while BJP-led Indian government has failed to contain it despite using different tactics.

This also points to the fact that the Sikhs are justified in believing that Indian secret agencies and their agents are involved in the recent killing of pro-Khalistan leader, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, in Canada. Nijjar was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Surrey city of Canada on June 18, this year. The Sikhs believe that Nijjar’s killing was a handiwork of the Indian intelligence agencies executed through the Indian High Commissioner to Ottawa Sanjay Kumar Verma, Consul General Vancouver Manish, and Consul General Toronto Apoorva Srivastava.
