Srinagar: Today, October 27, Kashmiris from both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and globally are observing Black Day, demonstrating against the continuation of Indian occupation and signaling their refusal to accept New Delhi’s control over Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference spearheaded the call for today’s observance and general strike, receiving backing from a variety of organizations. In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), towns like Srinagar, Baramulla, Pulwama, and others saw extensive poster campaigns urging public participation in the shutdown. These posters, distributed by the APHC and other pro-freedom groups, labeled October 27, 1947, as the beginning of the darkest period in the region’s history due to the unauthorized Indian military presence that started that day.
The campaign has extended to social media platforms such as X, Facebook, and WhatsApp, where messages calling for solidarity with Kashmir’s struggle for self-determination have spread widely.
The date marks a significant moment in history when Indian forces entered Jammu and Kashmir, contradicting the Partition Plan’s guidelines and imposing control without the consent of the Kashmiri people.
