KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has taken a significant step towards addressing water shortages in key areas of the city, with the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) and Frontier Works Organization (FWO) signing an agreement for the construction of the Dumlottee Pipeline Project.

According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the Rs14 billion project will provide an additional 10 million gallons of water daily from Dumlottee to Defence and Clifton, significantly strengthening water supply infrastructure in these key areas. Construction is scheduled to begin next week, with the project targeted for completion within 12 months.

Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab stated that the additional water supply would help reduce water shortages in Defence and Clifton and strengthen the city’s overall water supply network. He described the provision of an additional 10 million gallons of water daily as an important step towards addressing Karachi’s water challenges.

He noted that the Dumlottee Pipeline Project was a joint initiative of the Government of Sindh and KW&SC, adding that with the Sindh government’s support, Karachi’s water supply infrastructure was being upgraded and strengthened to ensure improved and more reliable water availability.

Mayor Wahab also expressed his gratitude to the Government of Sindh for its continued support for initiatives aimed at improving Karachi’s water infrastructure.

The agreement-signing ceremony was attended by FWO Head Brigadier Adnan Akhtar Ali, Station Commander Brigadier Imran Asghar, DHA Administrator Brigadier Ameer Nawaz Khan, Secretary Local Government Dr. Waseem Shamshad, Member of the National Assembly Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, PPP leader Syed Najmi Alam, Mayor Karachi’s Spokesperson Karamullah Waqasi, CEO KW&SC Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, COO Engineer Asadullah Khan, Board Secretary Abdul Raqeeb, and Project Director Dumlottee Muhammad Zahid, among other senior officials.
