Chinese National Rescued in Islamabad Kidnapping Case; Nine Suspects Arrested

Islamabad: A Chinese national was safely recovered and nine suspects were arrested in connection with a kidnapping for ransom case, according to a press release from Islamabad Capital Police. The operation, executed by Islamabad Police, resulted in the recovery of the victim, Zhou Jiawei, and the confiscation of three vehicles, the full amount of cash stolen, and multiple mobile phones.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, Zhou Jiawei was abducted by armed assailants who had initially robbed his companions at gunpoint. The incident occurred early in the morning, and police were alerted at around 6:00 a.m. via a Safe City call.

In response, SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza formed special teams under the leadership of SP City Zone Flight Lieutenant (Retd.) Muhammad Khurram Ashraf. These teams included officers from Karachi Company and Sihala police stations and members of the Crisis Response Team.

Using both technical and human intelligence, the police teams traced the victim’s location and conducted an operation leading to his safe recovery within the jurisdiction of Sihala Police Station. The suspects, who allegedly demanded a ransom of US$100,000, were apprehended and are currently detained for further investigation at Karachi Company Police Station.

The investigation is ongoing, with legal proceedings against the suspects being pursued in accordance with the law.
