KARACHI: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) is undertaking significant measures to address water and sewerage challenges throughout the city, with a particular focus on improvements in Baldia and Keamari Town, according to KMC’s Parliamentary Leader Karamullah Waqasi. These efforts are being undertaken to ensure the smooth completion of development and rehabilitation projects in time for Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
According to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, a concerted effort is being made under the leadership of Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab to coordinate with relevant institutions and elected officials to enhance infrastructure along the Eid Milad-un-Nabi procession routes. This includes road improvements, cleanliness drives, and the installation of paver blocks to ensure that devotees face no difficulties during the celebrations.
A recent meeting led by Mayor Wahab at the Water and Sewerage Board office focused on addressing water and sewerage issues in District Keamari. The meeting was attended by various officials, including District Keamari President Liaquat Ali Askani and Chief Operating Officer Asadullah. Discussions centered on the progress of ongoing projects, with directives issued for the swift resolution of identified problems.
Mayor Wahab’s commitment to resolving citizens’ issues was further demonstrated through his late-night inspections of areas such as II Chundrigar Road and Kharadar. The Mayor’s on-site evaluations aim to ensure that development initiatives are directly aligned with the needs of Karachi’s citizens. The Mayor emphasized that addressing public concerns is a priority for his administration.
In addition to these initiatives, paver block installations in Gulistan-e-Johar have been completed, costing approximately Rs145 million. Furthermore, efforts to transition streetlights on major roads to solar energy are progressing, with work on Shahrah-e-Saadi advancing rapidly.
The KMC continues to engage with various stakeholders to discuss and resolve the city’s water and sewerage challenges, as well as ongoing development projects. The administration remains committed to ensuring that Karachi’s infrastructure is prepared for the upcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations and beyond.
