Karachi, The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has raised an urgent call to international human rights organizations, seeking intervention to safeguard the life of their Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik, who is currently held in Tihar Jail. The JKLF leaders allege that Malik is the victim of political vendetta by the Indian government, a situation that has exacerbated his health issues.
According to Kashmir Media Service, This appeal was made during a virtual meeting of the JKLF advisory council, led by Muhammad Rafiq Dar, and attended by various party activists, as reported by the Kashmir Media Service. The council collectively condemned the Indian government’s treatment of Malik, who has been imprisoned for the last five years.
The JKLF leadership accused Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party of targeting Yasin Malik for electoral gains. They expressed serious concerns over Malik’s deteriorating health due to solitary confinement and alleged ill-treatment in jail. The leaders fear that the Modi government might escalate Malik’s life sentence to the death penalty through judicial means.
Given these circumstances, the JKLF’s call for international intervention underscores the urgency of the situation and their concern for Malik’s wellbeing under the current conditions of his detention.
