Islamabad: The Government of Japan has announced a grant of USD 44,025 to a local NGO in Pakistan to support a development project in Islamabad’s Tarnol area. The funds, provided under Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) Program, aim to enhance educational facilities and opportunities for children in the region.
According to a statement by Embassy of Japan In Pakistan, the grant contract was signed by His Excellency, Mr. Akamatsu Shuichi, Ambassador of Japan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and a representative of the NGO at the Embassy of Japan in Islamabad on February 27, 2025. The recipient of the grant, Community Services Program, has been active in education, health, and infrastructure in rural Pakistan for fifteen years.
Community Services Program plans to use the funds to construct a new school building and install necessary furniture in Ramzania village, located in Tarnol, Islamabad. The expansion will allow the school to serve more children, both girls and boys, from pre-school to the 5th grade. The project is expected to conclude in February 2026, providing a better learning environment for the community.
During the signing ceremony, Mr. Akamatsu Shuichi highlighted the significance of education in building a prosperous nation. He noted that education has been central to Japan’s own economic growth and expressed hope that this project would positively impact the lives of Pakistani children. The Japanese government remains committed to supporting local NGOs and enhancing human security in Pakistan through initiatives like this grant.
