ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have intensified their crackdown on drugs and illegal weapons, resulting in the arrest of 589 individuals in August alone. The operations are part of ongoing campaigns named “Nasha! Ab Nahi” and “Weapon-Free Islamabad.”

According to Islamabad Capital Police, these efforts follow the directives of Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, reported that the police apprehended 222 drug dealers and seized substantial quantities of narcotics, including over 35 kilograms of ice, 17 kilograms of hashish, more than 11 kilograms of heroin, and 2,765 bottles of liquor.

In addition to tackling drug-related offenses, the police arrested 367 individuals involved in the illegal possession and display of weapons. The operations led to the recovery of 304 pistols, 16 rifles or guns, 20 Kalashnikovs, and a large cache of ammunition.

SSP Raza emphasized that targeted operations are being conducted throughout the capital, with a strict zero-tolerance policy against criminal elements. The police are committed to safeguarding citizens from the dangers posed by narcotics and illegal weapons, prioritizing the protection of lives and property, crime prevention, and the maintenance of law and order across Islamabad.
