ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have arrested 23 individuals in connection with drug trafficking and illegal weapons possession as part of an ongoing crackdown in the federal capital. The operation, which resulted in the seizure of substantial quantities of drugs and weapons, is part of a broader effort to enhance public safety and security.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the arrests were made following directives from Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. Police teams apprehended 16 individuals for their involvement in drug trafficking and illegal arms possession, confiscating 2,236 grams of Ice, 115 grams of hashish, two Kalashnikovs, one gun, one rifle, and five pistols with ammunition. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused, with further investigations underway.

Additionally, a targeted campaign led to the arrest of seven offenders with previous criminal records. SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza emphasized the commitment of the police force to safeguarding the public, highlighting the “No to Weapon” initiative aimed at curtailing illegal arms possession and use.

The SSP urged residents to report any suspicious activities to local police stations or the Pucar-15 emergency helpline, reinforcing cooperation between law enforcement and the community to ensure a safer environment.
