Islamabad Conference Highlights Gender Equality as Key to Sustainable Green Economy


Islamabad: At the Regional Parliamentarians Conference on Gender Empowerment for a Green Economy, held in Islamabad, key speakers emphasized the critical role of gender equality in achieving a sustainable and inclusive green economy. The conference brought together prominent figures to discuss the intersection of gender empowerment and environmental goals.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Romina Khurshid Alam were among the eminent speakers who advocated for stronger inclusion of women in all sectors as essential to fostering sustainable economic growth and addressing environmental challenges. Sadiq highlighted Pakistan’s legislative efforts in promoting gender equality and addressing gender-based violence, which enhance women’s socio-economic and political participation.



Romina Khurshid Alam underscored that the transformation to a green economy involves not only environmental strategies but also significant societal changes. She noted that without addressing gender inequality, efforts towards sustainable economic growth and environmental protection remain incomplete.



The discussions concluded that empowering women and ensuring equal opportunities are fundamental to achieving the broader goals of environmental sustainability and economic development.
