Iranian President’s Visit to Pakistan Highlights Enhanced Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Peace Efforts


Islamabad: The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, visited Pakistan, marking a significant development in the diplomatic relations between the two neighboring countries. Invited by Pakistan’s Prime Minister, President Pezeshkian’s visit included meetings with key Pakistani officials and focused on strengthening ties across multiple sectors, as well as discussing regional peace initiatives.



According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Pezeshkian’s visit was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Iran’s Foreign Minister. The Iranian President held talks with Pakistan’s President and Prime Minister, as well as with the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Defence Forces. The delegation-level discussions reviewed the comprehensive spectrum of bilateral relations, with an emphasis on expanding cooperation in trade, energy, border security, and regional connectivity.



A major point of discussion was the recently signed Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which is seen as a crucial step in the ongoing peace process between Iran and the United States. The first High-Level Committee Meeting under this framework was held in Switzerland, involving key stakeholders from Pakistan, Qatar, the United States, and Iran. This meeting successfully outlined the implementation of the MoU, focusing on nuclear issues, sanctions, and dispute resolution.



The visit also underscored Pakistan’s role as a mediator in facilitating dialogue and promoting regional peace. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to advancing dialogue and stability in the region, with Pakistan receiving positive feedback from the international community for its constructive role in these efforts. The visit concluded with a joint statement, highlighting the strategic importance of the discussions in fostering long-term peace and cooperation between the two countries.
