Islamabad: Speakers at a seminar in Islamabad emphasized the importance of anticipating emerging trends, building institutional capacity, and converting knowledge into actionable solutions for Pakistan’s future.

According to Radio Pakistan, the seminar was organized by the Institute of Policy Studies during the annual meeting of its National Advisory Council. During the event, scholars, policymakers, diplomats, technocrats, and practitioners shared their insights on a range of issues. They highlighted the necessity of stronger institutions, improved governance, evidence-based policies, and effective implementation to address Pakistan’s complex national and international challenges.

The speakers underscored the importance of bringing governance closer to citizens by strengthening metropolitan and local institutions and establishing transparent mechanisms for decision-making and service delivery. They also called for improvements in water and irrigation management, better crop planning, support for farmers, regulation of agricultural inputs, actions against smuggling, and more efficient value chains.

With regard to the rapidly evolving landscape of information technology and artificial intelligence, the participants advocated for a coherent national AI roadmap, stronger data architecture, interoperable public digital infrastructure, affordable computing, and practical ethical frameworks tailored to Pakistan’s needs to meet global challenges.
