Islamabad, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi, has clarified that there will be no delay in the upcoming elections. Addressing concerns on private television channels during two distinct current affairs programmes, the minister emphasized that the Election Commission had already signalled the elections to take place by the end of January.
According to News Release by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Solangi added that the onus of announcing the final dates lies with the Election Commission, while the government’s role is to ensure that the Commission receives the necessary financial, administrative, and security support. He highlighted that the Election Commission is on track with its pre-established schedule and that political parties will be given 54 days to campaign. Furthermore, he stated that the caretaker government continues to operate within the boundaries set by the Constitution and the law.
