Info Minister lauds initiatives taken to revive Radio Pakistan, making it financially viable

Islamabad, July 12, 2023 (PPI-OT): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, during a visit to Radio Pakistan Islamabad, has appreciated recent initiatives taken to revive the national broadcaster and make it financially viable. Talking to media at the National Broadcasting House, Islamabad on Wednesday evening, she said the business plan under the “Stand-Up Radio Pakistan” project was completed in a short span of 14 months. She said a financially viable Radio Pakistan will ensure a significant improvement in its content, quality of transmission as well as welfare of the staff.

Highlighting the initiatives taken to bring diversity in national broadcaster’s transmissions, the Minister said a dedicated sports channel is airing youth oriented content round the clock to promote healthy activities amongst the masses. Similarly, exclusive channel of regional languages is playing an important role to promote cultural and linguistic diversity of the country.

She commended Radio Pakistan for establishing state of the art Technology platform to create awareness among people about latest and modern tools and gadgets to make a difference in the society. She said Radio Pakistan has now become a visual medium as well for which a Drama Studio Reels has been launched to provide quality entertainment to the viewers. She said it will encourage and facilitate young artists to demonstrate their skills through creativity.

Marriyum Aurangzeb expressed her delight to see the Podcast studio of Radio Pakistan from where interviews of experts, leading personalities of different walks of life are being aired. She also mentioned that a music channel of Radio Pakistan is enthralling its listeners 24/7. Besides, World Service is broadcasting programmes for overseas Pakistanis. She said national news studio is airing credible news in an efficient and world class manner.

The Minister said Saut-ul-Quran channel of Radio Pakistan has the biggest listenership and is widely appreciated in the country and abroad amongst the Muslim population. She said its transmission has been completely digitized to ensure quality of voice.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said cinemas and Research Cells are being established at the premises of Radio stations across the country to provide quality and affordable entertainment to the people. She said Radio Pakistan’s facility should be opened for university students so that they can polish their skills in different genres of media communication. Earlier, the Minister visited all these facilities and lauded Radio Pakistan’s administration and staff for their efforts to revive the national broadcaster.
