Industries Minister Holds Meeting with Industrialists Delegation

Lahore, July 06, 2023 (PPI-OT): The industrialists from Khanewal and Mian Channu held a meeting with the caretaker Minister for Industries and Trade SM Tanveer at the Punjab Small Industries Corporation’s committee room on Thursday and discussed their developmental issues and matters related to the industrial estates of Khanewal and Mian Channu. The delegation urged for the completion of developmental work in the industrial estates and the restoration of cancelled plots.

Provincial Minister SM Tanveer mentioned that boards of management for industrial estates are being formed in consultation with the stakeholders. The BoMs for the industrial estates of Khanewal and Mian Channu will also be established soon; he added and opined that BoMs are vital for finding solutions to the issues related to industrial estates. The government aims to promote industrialization and ensure employment opportunities for the people, he added.

SM Tanveer informed that loans worth Rs.11 billion have been approved, while soft loans worth Rs.8 billion have been distributed under the Punjab Rozgar Scheme. He urged the industrialists to take advantage of this scheme for setting up industries. He emphasized that the colonisation of industrial estates is a priority for the government and there should be no property business there. He directed the DMD PSIC to visit Multan and assess the appeals for the restoration of cancelled plots. Managing Director Punjab Small Industries Corporation, Regional Director Multan, and others were present during the meeting.

Earlier, Minister SM Tanveer chaired a meeting at PSIC to review the progress of issues faced by artisans, the promotion of handicrafts, and programs for their welfare. Addressing the meeting, SM Tanveer emphasized that artisans play a pivotal role in protecting the soft image of the country worldwide. They are the identity of our craftsmanship, and therefore, necessary steps will be taken to promote their artistic skills. He announced that a grand artisans’ fair will be held in Lahore on July 13, providing an opportunity for artisans to showcase their artistic expertise.

The government is actively working on a new scheme to boost the morale of artisans. Masterpieces created by artisans will be promoted globally through embassies. SM Tanveer described Multan’s blue pottery as a beautiful representation of Punjab’s culture and assured that the art of artisans will never perish. MD PSIC, Regional Director Multan, representatives of artisans, and others attended the meeting.
