Indian Army Deploys High-Tech Mobility Vehicle in IIOJK Glaciers

Srinagar: The Indian Army has introduced the Kapidhwaj Specialist Mobility Vehicle, designed for difficult terrains, in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The vehicle was recently employed during a key casualty evacuation mission on the challenging Siachen Glacier in the Ladakh region.

The Kapidhwaj, an adapted version of the SHERP N1200, is an advanced all-terrain vehicle built to navigate snow, marshes, riverbeds, and rocky areas. Its capabilities address the logistical challenges faced by military operations in high-altitude areas where traditional transport is inadequate.

A senior Army official highlighted the vehicle’s potential to revolutionize operations in border regions, such as Ladakh and Siachen, where infrastructure is limited and conditions are demanding. The official noted the Army’s increased emphasis on mobility and speed as a strategic response to threats along the Line of Actual Control and Line of Control.

While the Kapidhwaj is promoted for its mobility benefits, its deployment is perceived as part of New Delhi’s ongoing efforts to reinforce its hold over IIOJK, a region already heavily militarized with over a million Indian troops and modern military equipment.
