Islamabad: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, has directed senior officers to finalize comprehensive security arrangements for the upcoming Muharram-ul-Haram, ensuring the safety of religious gatherings and processions. The directives were issued during a high-level meeting that reviewed law and order, public service delivery, crime prevention, and ongoing development projects.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, Rizvi chaired the meeting attended by DIGs, AIGs, SSPs, SPs, and other senior officers. He emphasized the need for officers to personally oversee security measures at Imambargahs and maintain close coordination with organizers. He stressed the utilization of all available resources for effective surveillance and a prompt response mechanism to ensure a peaceful environment for mourners.
Rizvi also instructed police stations to prioritize quality service provision and address public complaints promptly. He called for organized operations against drug dealers and criminal elements. The meeting further assessed the progress of Safe City projects, police welfare initiatives, and development work under the SIPS Protocol. Officers were tasked with ensuring the timely completion of projects and promoting community-oriented policing.
In a subsequent meeting with the National Police Foundation, Rizvi discussed police welfare, housing, healthcare, education, and IT-based initiatives. Decisions included expanding welfare projects and strengthening cooperation between the Foundation and Islamabad Police. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to prioritizing police personnel welfare to enhance their dedication and professional excellence.
