Lahore: In a public commendation, Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar praised the comprehensive security measures and traffic management executed by the Punjab Police during the Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) celebrations held on the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal. The provincial police force was lauded for their meticulous planning and execution which ensured peaceful celebrations across Punjab.
According to Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar expressed his satisfaction with the exceptional teamwork that contributed to the foolproof security during the religious festivities. The IG Punjab highlighted the roles of various divisions within the police department including the CCPO Lahore, RPOs, DPOs, and traffic officers. The coordinated efforts of the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit, and Elite Force were noted for their effective patrolling throughout the event. Dr. Anwar also recognized the synergy between police units, allied departments, and security agencies which played a crucial role in the smooth conduct of the celebrations.
During his visit to the Central Control Room of Punjab Police, Dr. Anwar reviewed the security arrangements and assessed the law and order situation across the province. Inspector Hamid Mahmood, who oversees the Central Police Office Control Room, provided detailed briefings on the reports collected from various police control rooms. Additionally, Dr. Anwar and a team of officials including Additional IG CTD Wasim Sial and Special Secretary Interior Fazal Rehman, inspected the Home Department’s control room at the Civil Secretariat to further evaluate security measures specifically for the central procession routes.
The Punjab Police deployed over 55,000 officers and personnel to manage security for 1,581 Milad gatherings and 2,467 processions. In Lahore alone, security for 255 processions and more than 225 Milad gatherings was overseen by over 10,000 officers, personnel, and community volunteers. The police utilized a mix of traditional and modern policing techniques, bolstered security at sensitive locations, and enhanced surveillance through Safe City Authority cameras. Additionally, the police ensured effective coordination with peace committees, scholars, and community leaders to promote interfaith harmony and tolerance.
